I’m Ann Bordetsky, a serial startup operator and growth stage business executive (ex-Uber, Twitter), now investing in the next generation of founders as a Partner at NEA.

I invest in founders reimagining how we work, live, play, connect and care for our planet. Humans with curiosity, hustle and heart, and the ambition to create impact at scale.

Builders gotta build. Why VC?

Well, I’ve spent most of my career so far working in service of founders - helping them bring their visions to life, build category defining products, broker partnerships, scale fast and cultivate diverse teams.

As an investor, I’m still working in service of founders and their teams every single day, except now I have more resources and capital to bring to the table! 😁

The truth is startups are insanely HARD whether you’re thriving or surviving, so having a partner that’s been there matters. While I can’t do the work for you, I can help with capital, earned wisdom and an empathetic ear.

What I’ve been up to:

In 2009, I started in Tech as an outsider, a DC transplant who knew how Washington worked but not Silicon Valley. I blazed the trail from the startup trenches to the C-suite (and I mean that literally, as a woman in tech that is what it takes). There is company building muscle you only get by doing and I have hands-on operating experience at every stage, from Seed to IPO, including 2 startup exits and leadership roles at 2 iconic unicorns.

Executive / Operating:

  • Rival, Chief Operating Officer (acquired by Live Nation, VC backed by a16z, Upfront)

  • Uber, Director Business Development & Strategic Initiatives (hyper-growth to IPO)

  • Twitter, Commerce & Consumer Product Partnerships

  • Wheelz, early leader in P2P mobility (acquired by Turo)

  • Better Place, venture backed tech pioneer in electric vehicle charging networks and networked battery storage

  • Pre-Tech: NRDC, Federal Climate & Energy Policy

Angel Investments:

That’s >60% Female/URM Founders! 🙌

Occasionally LP in trailblazing, diverse fund managers:

School: As an immigrant kid, I ‘made it’ via education. Stanford MBA and BS in Environmental Science & Policy from UC Berkeley.

P.S. I’m obsessed with advancing women in leadership roles, as Founders, CEOs, Board Directors, Fund Managers and Angel Investors. At Uber, I founded our Global Women of Uber Community (pic above). I actively support female founders and fund managers, and coach women on road to CEO. It’s good for the world and good for business.

If you are DREAMING BIG, my door is open for career chats and connections.
